TRANFER PORTAL TRACKER

One of the more highly rated prospects the Cowboys have had over the past handful of seasons, Kendal Daniels has entered the transfer portal.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported the news. Daniels has been at Oklahoma State since 2021 when he redshirted. In the three years since, Daniels has tallied 240 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was a freshman All-American in 2022 and was named the Big 12’s Defensive Freshman of the Year.

247Sports listed Daniels as the No. 42 player in the 2021 recruiting class. Out of Beggs, Daniels had offers to play at Texas A&M, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Oregon and others. He initially signed with A&M before getting out of that letter of intent and joining his in-state Cowboys.

Daniels made 71 tackles and had three interceptions as a redshirt freshman in 2022. In 2023, he eclipsed the 100-tackle mark under first-year coordinator Bryan Nardo, Daniels moved from safety up to a linebacker role in 2024 and made 64 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and 5,5 sacks. He has the body of a future NFL player. He was listed at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds this past season.

Daniels’ entry to the portal provides further sign that OSU has a lot of overhauling to do on its roster for this upcoming season. The transfer portal opened Monday and as already seen Daniels, Isaia Glass and De’Zhaun Stribling (three of the most experienced players who could return) enter it. And that’s not even to mention that OSU is losing its five opening-day offensive line starters, Brennan Presley, Rashod Owens, Alan Bowman and Korie Black to graduation. Oh, and OSU is set to lose Ollie Gordon, Collin Oliver and Nick Martin to the NFL.

So, the Cowboys will have a lot of work to do in the portal to fill for all of those losses.

After a 3-9 2024 season, OSU fired coordinators Bryan Nardo and Kasey Dunn last Wednesday. On Sunday night, news broke that OSU was hiring Todd Grantham as the program’s next defensive coordinator.
