Former UCF forward Achol Akot committed to Oklahoma State on Friday, making her the third transfer the Cowgirls have landed in the past week.
Akot hails from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She played on Canada’s U19 squad and helped her country earn just its second ever FIBA World Cup medal. A year later, she was in Orlando, appearing in 28 games (starting 15) for the Knights. Last year, as a sophomore, Akot averaged 6.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and two assists while starting 21 games. She scored in double digits eight times last year and grabbed at least 10 boards in six appearances. Her three double-doubles led UCF last year.
At 6-foot-1, Akot is tied for the third-tallest among OSU’s updated 2025-26 roster. In a release from OSU, head coach Jacie Hoyt called Akot “an instant upgrade in athleticism.” She has two years of eligibility remaining.
“Her length and versatility will be a great addition on both ends of the floor because she can play around the rim and 15-foot range offensively,” said Hoyt. “She can guard just about any position on the floor defensively. She will give us some much needed rebounding as well. I love her selfless attitude and hunger to be a part of a winning program and culture.”
This extends the Cowgirls’ portal gets to four. Akot joins the likes of Haleigh Timmer (SDSU), Amari Whiting (BYU) and Tyla Heard (ORU), sister of Stailee Heard. Speaking of OSU’s leading scorer, the Cowgirls got probably their biggest commitment on Friday when Heard confirmed that she will stick around for her third year.
