Report: Eric Morris Set to Make $3.8 Million Annually as Oklahoma State’s Coach
It’s on par with some of the recent Big 12 hires.
Eric Morris more than doubled his North Texas salary, but in terms of the Big 12 landscape, the Cowboys seem to have gotten a good deal.
Morris is set to make $3.8 million annually on a five-year contract as Oklahoma State’s football coach, according to The Oklahoman’s Scott Wright. The contract has a $100,000 annual raise each Feb. 1 and expires Jan. 31, 2031.
According to the USA Today coaching salary database, Morris made $1.4 million this year as North Texas’ head coach, meaning he doubled his salary and then got another million on top of that.
In terms of the Big 12, $3.8 million is right around where some of the recent hirings have landed. Scott Frost (UCF) is making about $3.9 million and Rich Rodriguez (West Virginia) is making $3.6 million.
Mike Gundy, according to USA Today’s database, was set to make about $6.9 million in 2025.
Morris was officially announced as the Cowboys coach on Nov. 25 but has stayed in Denton to coach the Mean Green on its quest to the College Football Playoff.
UNT plays Tulane at 7 p.m. Friday (on ABC) in the American title game. The contest will essentially act as a CFP play-in game as the two American schools battle to be the Group of Five’s representative in the tournament.
Morris will be formally introduced as the Cowboys’ coach in Stillwater on Monday.
