Oklahoma State Signee Jalen Montonati Drops 56 Points on Senior Night
Montonati had 42 at the half and finished with 15 made 3s.
A piece of the Cowboys future had quite the high school senior night on Tuesday.
Jalen Montonati scored 56 points in a game against Northwest Classen.
Montonati actually outscored the Knights by himself, as Owasso won 110-35. In fact, the Oklahoma State signee did enough scoring at the half for Owasso to win that game. Montonati had 42 going into the locker room, and he finished the game with 15 made 3s.

“Obviously Jalen’s had a great year,” said Lutz of his signee on Thursday. “He got hurt there for a little bit and was out. He came back with a vengeance. For someone to be able to come up and put 56 on Senior Night, what a cool experience, especially to be able to share it with his father (Owasso coach and OSU alum Brian Montonati), him being his coach.
“Not that I’m moving on (from the current season) by any means, but I do — I think that our recruiting continues to get better. I thought that people recognize the fact that we’ve made strides in the program and want to be a part of it, especially when Jalen is, obviously, one of the best players in our state — if not the best player. So, yeah, I’m excited for him, and I’m excited for the future.”
Listed at 6-foot-7, Montonati is a consensus four-star prospect per 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. The World Wide Leader is highest on Montonati, listing him as the No. 50 player in the 2026 class. All of those services also list him as the No. 1 player in the state of Oklahoma.
It’s the second week in a row the Cowboys have had some positive news surrounding their incoming signees after Latrell Allmond was named a McDonald’s All-American last week.
OSU’s three-man class of Montonati, Allmond and Parker Robinson ranks 11th nationally, according to 247Sports. It’s the No. 2 class in the Big 12, trailing only Kansas’ four-commit class.
Lutz and his fanbase will hope that success on the recruiting trail translates to on the court.
“If there’s one thing that all of you have hopefully ascertained from being around me in the year and a half, two years that I’ve been here is I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I’m going to tell you the truth.
“Whether Jalen comes here and is a first team All-American or whether he comes here and is a role player, who knows? But I know that he’s a great person who works really, really hard at basketball, and guys like that typically are going to be successful. I think the world of him and his family, and they’ve done everything they can to put that young man in a great position to be successful. But once you get to Oklahoma State, guys, it’s on you. It’s on you to come in and fight for everything that you get every single day, and I believe that he’ll do that. I’m excited about him, and I’m excited about the other two guys, as well.”
