After it took 11 frames to get one win on Thursday, the Cowgirls picked up two Ws in just as many innings on Friday.

No. 16 Oklahoma State defeated Southeast Missouri 8-0 in just five innings in Round 1 of their double-header and then followed that up with a 9-1 victory in six innings in Round 2.

OSU 8, SEMO 0

After earning the W against Nebraska, the night before with one inning pitched, RyLee Crandall pitched a complete game, albeit a truncated one, in the early time slot.

In five innings, Crandall allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out six. She moves to 6-0 on the season.

After managing just two runs against the Huskers, the Cowgirls’ hitters stretched out on Friday, starting with a pair of RBIs by Claire Timm and Karli Godwin to put OSU up 2-0 in the first.

Things got out of hand in the bottom of the third, a five-run inning for the home team. Tia Warsop had an RBI ground-out before Audrey Schneidmiller’s two-RBI single and Gabby Castillo’s two-RBI triple to make it 7-0.

Schneidmiller facilitated the mercy rule in the bottom of the fourth, taking a two-out on a full count, before Crandall struck out Southeast Missouri’s Mary Tutwiler swinging to seal the deal.

OSU 9, SEMO 1

Preslee Downing moved to 4-0 in the evening game, pitching all six innings while allowing five hits and one walk. She struck out three Redhawks and allowed a single run in the top of the sixth.

Rosie Davis picked up where she had left off the night before going 2-4 with two runs batted in in the second game, the Cowgirls’ first two scores in the first and second innings.

Schneidmiller added a single RBI in the third and then Aubrey Jones punched a solo homer in the fourth to make it 4-0.

The Cowgirls again laid a five-run inning on the Redhawks, this time in the sixth. Aubrey Jones and Madison Hoffman each had scores, bookending Claire Timm’s deep two-run bomb.

Up Next: OSU-Nebraska Round 2

The Cowgirls are now on an eight-game winning streak leading into to a rematch with No. 9 Nebraska, who the Cowgirls walked off in dramatic fashion in an extra-inning home opener on Thursday.

It will be the second of three meetings between the Cowgirls and Huskers with their Oklahoma State/Tulsa Invitational finale taking place 2:30 p.m. Sunday. In between those two matchups, the Cowgirls will face South Dakota State at noon Sunday in Cowgirl Stadium.
