OSU Bullets

• Pro Football Focus has Caleb Hawkins as their No. 36 player in college football (PFF)

• Viktor Hovland has the seventh-best odds to win the Open Championship this weekend (CBS Sports)

• While 5.5 wins seems like a bearish wins prediction given the current optimism around the program, seeing how Vegas is picking lines for OSU’s first two games is something of an indicator:

Oklahoma State is a 13.5-point favorite at Tulsa in week one. For context, in the days before last season’s home loss, OSU was only an 11.5-point favorite over TU. The Cowboys are 17.5-point underdogs at home to Oregon in week two, but that’s a significant improvement from last season’s meeting when the Ducks were favored by 28.5 points before the Tulsa loss sent the program into a complete tailspin. • Completely unsure about the credibility, but this take on why Kollin Ritchie stayed at OSU feels rational in the NIL era (X)

• Little Aso feels like a solid pickup for Steve Lutz and Co.:

“Spend each day trying to be a little wiser than you were when you woke up. Discharge your duties faithfully and well. Step by step you get ahead, but not necessarily in fast spurts. But you build discipline by preparing for fast spurts … In the end, most people get what they deserve.”
