NFL Update: Brennan Presley Continues to Make Plays in Week 2 of the Preseason

Week 2 of the NFL preseason saw a little less action from former Cowboys.

Teams are working through their depth charts as they head into the final week of preseason games. Mason Rudolph showed Pittsburgh head coach Mike McCarthy all he needed to in the preseason opener, so he didn’t see the field this weekend. And some of the other established players like Rudolph’s backfield mate Jaylen Warren got a short burn as the coaching staff tried to get a better look at those fighting for reps or roster spots.

But a handful of former Pokes were active. Let’s take a look around the league starting with a record-holder at OSU fighting for a spot in his second year.

Presley Got the Rams Going

Brennan Presley followed up his team-leading 58 receiving yards in Week 1 of the preseason by getting involved early and often in the Rams’ Week 2 exhibition against the New Orleans Saints.

In fact, he got the ball on the Rams’ first three plays on offense. They were as follows: a five-yard run, a 14-yard reception and a seven-yard reception.

Presley ended the game with four catches for 35 receiving yards and that run. His six targets were second only to rookie receiver CJ Daniels. Presley also returned a punt 11 yards.

Speaking of his return duties, the former OSU special teams star has been effective there as well.

Through (mostly) two preseason games, your NFL leader in kick return yards is Lincoln Christian’s Kolbe Katsis with 139 yards.

The Rams never really looked back from after those three quick plays, blanking the Saints 34-0.

Ollie Gordon Takes a Tough Hit

After a mixed bag last week, the second-year tailback was limited to just four carries for eight yards after he took a tough hit in the second quarter.

Gordon was reportedly cleared to return but Miami’s coaching staff elected to be cautious.

The Dolphins would fall to the Giants 26-3, but former Oklahoma State corner A.J. Green III did record three tackles (two solo).

E-Man Talks Return to KC

Emmanuel Ogbah didn’t see the field in Chiefs’ loss to Tampa Bay but practiced for the first time in the week preceding. He signed a one-year deal to return to Kansas City where he played for one season in 2019.

Other Notes:

• Jaylen Warren got the start but is playing RB by committee with Rico Dowdle. Warren finished with five carries for 17 yards while Dowdle had five for 18.

• After leading the 49ers with eight total tackles in Week 1, Nick Martin came in second with four total tackles (three solo). He did miss practice on Sunday due to a hamstring issue.

• Tyler Lacy logged two tackles (one solo).

• Tay Martin caught one pass for 11 yards on four targets.

• Terrill Davis caught on pass for seven yards on three targets.

• Wes Pahl punted four times for an average of 48 yards including a 55-yarder. He landed one inside the 20-yard line.

• Korie Black had a solo tackle in the Giants’ 26-3 win over the Dolphins.

• Chuba Hubbard is still out with a hamstring issue but should be ready by Week 1.
