With an increase in workload, Ollie Gordon II is showing Miami fans what those in Stillwater became all to accustomed to.

The former Oklahoma State running back and Doak Walker winner racked up 100 rushing yards on just nine carries as he tried to will his team to a first win. He couldn’t quite do it alone. The Dolphins, now 0-4, fell 15-10 to the 4-0 Vikings.

He got a big chunk of those yards on one run.

This new career high game a week after Gordon’s season-high 41 yards in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. In that game he scored his first TD of the season. He got his second to kick things off in Minnesota.

Gordon’s increase in handoffs came after Miami starting running back De’Von Achane went down last week with a season-ending ACL injury. It was assumed Gordon would play a bigger part still in this week’s game plan, but he seems to have leapfrogged RB Jaylen Wright. Wright technically got the start and took the first two handoffs, but it looked like Miami’s staff was intent on riding the hot hand.

Gordon ended up averaging 11.1 yards per carry. he ended up with nine carries, with five going to Wright and two each for Malik Willis and Malik Washington. Gordon also caught both passes thrown to him but for a net zero gained yards.

The former Cowboy is coming off a rookie season in which he totaled 199 rushing yards and three touchdowns but on 70 attempts.

Next up, Gordon and the Dolphins return home to host the Cincinnati Bengals at 12 p.m. CST, Sunday Oct. 11.
