NFL Update: Jaylen Warren Makes History, Justice Hill Breaks Loose, Ollie Gordon Scores Again
It’s been fun watching former OSU running backs in the NFL this season.
It’s been a fun season to watch former Cowboys running backs in the NFL.
Jaylen Warren, Chuba Hubbard and Ollie Gordon have all seen an increase in opportunities over the early part of the season, and all three have taken advantage. So with Hubbard on a bye week and resting up after his latest 100-yard rushing performance, Justice Hill decided to throw his hat in the ring.
Let’s take a look around the league at which OSU alums were making plays in the NFL, starting with a historic performance by Jaylen Warren.
Warren Makes History
The former Oklahoma State running back is on a tear, and he underlined that with a historic performance on Sunday. Warren led the Steelers to a 34-22 win over the Indianapolis Colts, rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown as well as a career-high 87 receiving yards and a score on six catches.
He had a huge catch and run early and then picked up a 50-yard TD on the ground to put the Steelers in control in the third.
Jaylen Warren was the engine of Pittsburgh’s offense against Indianapolis.

Warren helped Pittsburgh move to 3-2 and stay right in the thick of the AFC North race.

According to a post by the Steelers’ X account, Warren is the first NFL player to have an 80-yard receiving touchdown and a 50-yard score in the same game since Herschell Walker back in 1986.
What’s more, through five games, he is the only player currently to lead his team both in rushing yards and receiving yards, and he’s third in the NFL in total scrimmage yards with 640. That has him on pace for over 2,100 scrimmage yards.
According to Pro Football Focus, Warren also leads all NFL players with 289 yards after catch this season. The next on the list is Atlanta Falcons receiver Drake London with 220.
This recent surge in production came after Pittsburgh running back Rico Dowdle went down with injury. The two were sharing handoffs in more of a running back-by-committee situation. But over these last three games, Warren is averaging 107 rushing yards per game on 6.6 yards per carry. He’s also averaging 56 receiving yards over that span.
According to Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy, Dowdle is expected to practice this week and be available this weekend, but it sounds like Warren will remain the featured back moving forward.
Justice Hill Breaks Loose
Carries have been hard to come by in the Ravens’ backfield for the former Cowboy running back, but he made this one count.

His 73 rushing yards were a season high, but the most impressive part was that he did it on just four carries.

Ollie Gordon Scores Again
Another OSU running back that has gotten more reps of late has also been taking advantage.
Second-year Dolphin Ollie Gordon II has now scored a touchdown in three straight games since RB1 De’Von Achane went down with injury. On Sunday, he racked up 88 yards and a score on the ground though the Dolphins fell to the Bengals 31-24.
