Daily Bullets (Oct. 13): Mestemaker’s NFL Buzz Grows/Sustains, Pokes Have Room to Move in Big 12 Race
Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.
• UCF’s coach Scott Frost would be “surprised” if Drew Mestemaker is in college next year, (another) NFL analyst is calling him the first QB off the board (PFB)
• Cowboy Golf is tied for first through one day of Big 12 match play (Clippd)
• CBS Sports has the Pokes in the Pop Tarts Bowl against SMU – this would be super fun (CBS Sports)
• ESPN had some good insight on the Big 12 title race – and the Pokes place in it. It’s a four-team race by the odds – BYU, Utah, Texas Tech, and whoever emerges from OSU, Baylor, Houston, and Arizona.
Houston hosts Oklahoma State and visits Utah in the next two weeks; the Cougars’ odds were hit hard by their narrow loss at Texas Tech, but they could play themselves right back into the race, especially if they keep looking as good as they did in Manhattan. OSU, meanwhile, has a mulligan to give and hosts Texas Tech in November. [ESPN]
• Pokes are at No. 3 in these Big 12 power rankings (HCS)
• Statistical deep dive on the Pokes from the guys at TDL:
I charted all 61 offensive snaps from Oklahoma State’s 42-28 win over UCF and compared them to Tulsa, Oregon, WVU and the North Texas tape I charted in January.
As a reminder, I did not chart the Murray State game. — Feels Like 45 Podcast (@FeelsLike45Pod) October 11, 2026
Non-OSU Bullets
• James Madison is joining the American • Never quit because it’s hard
