Gary Patterson: ‘They Love Their Football in Stillwater’
Round 1 of the Big 12 playoffs (which will inevitably knock the entire league out of the real Playoff) starts on Saturday in Stillwater when TCU comes calling on the Pokes. Gary Patterson hasn’t won in two trips to Gundy’s house. The last time he was there, Josh Stewart left a group of Frogs strung out and barely conscious.

This year, Gary Patterson’s crew is hoping for something much different. He knows, though, that it’s going to be a cauldron.
“We’ve had some very emotional, some very big crowds. It’s always a great place, because they love their football in Stillwater. It’s always a great ballgame to be a part of.”
“If you want to win championships, you’ve got to be able to go do that,” Patterson told the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. “You’ve got to be able to play in those kind of environments.”
“This is what we play the game for,” added TCU running back Kyle Hicks. “We want to be in these big environments and make these big plays in big games like this. What we have set out is to win a Big 12 championship, and we know that’s the same goal for Oklahoma State.”
David Glidden paid TCU a nice compliment in return.
“They’re very well-coached and very disciplined. They’ve kind of done the same thing every year since I’ve been here and we’ve played them. They’ve been battling injuries this year, but now they’re starting to get a few guys back. They fly around with the ball, they’re relentless and I think it all goes back to Coach Patterson because of how well coached they are. You can tell how much film they watch and how much film they study and I think it’s really paid off for them.”
I do hope when the dust settles on Saturday that I get to make a joke about how Patterson should have asked Dana Holgorsen about OSU instead of Baylor.[1. This was incredibly strange, no?]
