Pokes in the Pros
Jimmy Bean Signed to Raiders Practice Squad
Former Cowboy defensive end Jimmy Bean has signed a deal to join the Oakland Raiders practice squad. This is great news as Bean went undrafted in April due concerns over a knee injury he suffered during his senior season in 2015.

Bean tore his ACL in the Texas Tech game last season before the Pokes suffered their first loss. The injury unfortunately ended a potential career-year for Bean as he compiled 10 1/2 tackles for loss and 5 ½ sacks. Bean’s pass rush presence was missed seeing how the defense struggled in the final three games.

While draft projections from November are not the greatest barometer, Bean was slated as potential 4th or 5th round draft pick before his injury. This is a great addition for a Raiders defense that already has some exciting talent with Khalil Mack, and two former Mountaineers in Bruce Irvin and 2016 1st-round pick Karl Joseph.
While the practice squad isn’t the end goal this will give Bean a chance to get fully healthy and prove he can compete against NFL talent.
