Report: Five Candidates Interviewing For OSU Job on Thursday
Doug Gottlieb is among five interviewing on Thursday for the Oklahoma State head coaching position, according to The Oklahoman. Gottlieb will be joined by James Dickey and three Brad Underwood assistants. Here is John Helsley.
Also slated for interviews: former Cowboys assistant James Dickey and Underwood’s three hired assistants — Danny Henderson, Mike Boynton and Lamont Evans.
Consider it the starting point, as The Oklahoman has also learned that Holder is enlisting consultant Eddie Fogler to aid the process. A former Division I coach at Wichita State, Vanderbilt and South Carolina, Fogler now runs his own consulting firm for coaching searches and recruitment.
So that feels a little bit like a courtesy, and if you’re a Gottlieb fan (like many of us are) then that’s a bit of a disappointment that he would be lumped in with those other four (who have no realistic chance of getting the gig).
Henderson is Marcus Smart and Phil Forte’s old high school coach and was an assistant at Boise State for three years before his first year on the job last year at OSU. Evans was an assistant in 2011-12 at Kansas State and 2012-16 at South Carolina. Boynton was at South Carolina from 2008-13 and SFA from 2013-16.
Dickey was previously the head coach at Texas Tech and Houston. He was at Oklahoma State from 2002-2008 and has been back in some capacity since 2014.
