OSU Baseball: Garrett McCain Earns All-American Nod by Baseball America
Cowboy outfielder Garrett McCain was named a second team All-American by Baseball America, it was announced Thursday. The junior left-fielder was the driving force in Oklahoma State’s late-season hot streak that gave OSU a Big 12 tournament title and earned the team a slot in the postseason.
An all-conference first team honoree, McCain led his team in almost every offensive statistic they have columns for. He led the Big 12 in batting average (.388), on-base percentage (.491) and hits (87).
McCain recorded 13 multiple-RBI games including a great weekend in Bricktown where he strung together back-to-back games with four RBIs against West Virginia and then three against Texas. As a result of his efforts, his team won a Big 12 Tournament championship and McCain was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
McCain was one of only two Cowboys to start all 57 games and gives Cowboy fans plenty to be excited for in 2018.
