100 Days of Summer: Get to Know No. 10 Tyrell Alexander
Just ten days until football?! Ten days until football. Let’s take a look at just another of the Cowboys’ young and talented playmakers vying for reps at wide receiver.
How he got to OSU
At Lancaster High School (Texas), Alexander did it all. He was a dual-threat quarterback and receiver that rushed for six yards per carry his senior season. This three-star athlete committed to the Cowboys early just to decommit and then recommit — all while other schools kept calling. Alexander ultimately picked Oklahoma State over offers from Oregon, West Virginia, Baylor and others.
What he’s done in Stillwater
Spent last year redshirting and has been working though spring a fall camps to step into a deep and talented wideout rotation. His athleticism and versatility should also make him valuable on special teams.
Role in 2017
Alexander has loads of potential even if his name is getting lost in the shuffle. Regardless of the reps he gets this season, he could be a big-time playmaker for OSU moving forward. The Cowboys will say goodbye to James Washington, Marcell Ateman and Chris Lacy after this year. There will be reps up for grabs and Alexander should be in line with the likes of Tyron Johnson, Dillon Stoner and Tylan Wallace.
During spring camp, Hayden Barber got a chance to see Alexander in action during drills. His sure hands drew a little excitement from his position coach, Kasey Dunn.
“DAMN, Tyrell.”

Noteworthy stats and highlights
During OSU’s spring game, Alexander showed off his big-play potential. He caught just two passes but they went for 39 and 23 yards. To get an idea of his speed and elusiveness, check out Alexander’s QB tape from high school.
