James Washington Named Preseason First-Team All-American
Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington has been named a preseason first-team All-American by the Associated Press.
Washington, who was named first-team All-Big 12 in 2016, is one of three Big 12 players to be named to the preseason All-American team. Offensive linemen Connor Williams (Texas) and Orlando Brown (Oklahoma) were also named to the first team.
Washington currently leads all active Power Five conference receivers with 2,923 career receiving yards and 19.2 career yards per reception, and he leads the nation in career touchdown receptions with 26. He is also the No. 1 senior receiver in the country according to Mel Kiper, and he is listed as the best returning receiver in college football by both ESPN and Athlon Sports.
Washington and the Cowboys have their season opener next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. against Tulsa at Boone Pickens Stadium.
