How he got to OSU

The three-star DeSoto (Texas) product turned down offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Colorado, Cal and Louisville to play at Oklahoma State. A two-year starter at cornerback, Green fit the mold of rangy and athletic cornerbacks OSU has focused on in recruiting.

Gundy talked about the new wave of cover men at OSU after a recent practice.

“We’ve had to move guys around back there for a number of years and I think now we’ve finally settled on some young players that can stay there and have the bodies to play that position for a number of years,” said Gundy.

What he’s done in Stillwater

Green saw immediate playing time on special teams, appearing in nine games. He also saw some reps on defense toward the end of the season. One year’s experience and 10 pounds gained under OSU’s strength and conditioning program has Green ready to take on a huge role in 2017.

Role in 2017

Oklahoma State will kick off its first game with its two starting cornerbacks sharing exactly zero starts. Green has some experience, but Rodarius Williams will start in his college debut. There’s a lot riding on these young corners but Green doesn’t seem worried.

“With the cornerbacks, I’m most confident in our will to compete,” Green told PFB. “I want to go out there and battle everyday. I want to get better. Just watching film. Or just listening to what the older guys have to say, them and Ramon, but with the corners in fall camp, I feel good. I real good. I feel like we all have something to prove.

“Everybody’s looking at the corners to see how we’re gonna do. I feel like we’re going to go out there and show the fans and the rest of the country that we’re here to play.”

Noteworthy stats and highlights

As a senior at DeSoto, he tallied 45 total tackles (36 solo) and grabbed three interceptions each his junior and senior season.

Green recorded two tackles in the Alamo Bowl including this solo hit on Colorado running back Phillip Lindsay. (Green was No. 22.)
