A List of Records Mason Rudolph Could Break on Saturday Against Texas
We can argue all day about whether Mason Rudolph is as great as Brandon Weeden — I’m not sure I’ll ever truly believe that — but what we can’t argue about are the numbers. Rudolph is, and will go down as, the most productive quarterback in Oklahoma State history. And it will be tough for anyone in the next 10-20 years to catch him.
He is currently the all-time leader in the following categories at OSU:
- Career passing yards
- Career total offense
- Career pass attempts
- Single game passing yards
- Single game total offense
- Career 300-yard game
- Career 400-yard games
- Career yards per attempt
- Career yards per game
There are dozens more. Those are just the ones that stand out. And on Saturday in Austin, where Rudolph had maybe the worst game of his career two years ago, a few big ones could fall. Here’s a look.
Career TD responsible for
Record: Zac Robinson with 88
Rudolph: Currently has 87
Career pass completions
Record: Brandon Weeden with 767
Rudolph: Currently has 733
Career passing TDs
Record: Brandon Weeden with 75
Rudolph: Currently has 74
Career wins as a starter
Record: Gundy (I think?) with 28
Rudolph: Currently has 27
The crazy part? All of these could happen on the same play. What if Rudolph completes his 35th pass of the day for his second passing TD with 0:00 left to tie Gundy and break the other three records?!
