Bowl Gift Season: Cowboys Players to Get Nice Perks With Liberty Bowl
OSU players will enjoy plenty of perks this holiday season thanks to the Liberty Bowl.
Every postseason, teams fortunate (and talented) enough to get into bowl games are rewarded not only with an all expenses paid trip to the bowl destination, but also with goodies that come along with it.
For OSU, which is enjoying a 13-year bowl streak, they are no stranger to those gifts. In 2017, OSU players were given a Best Buy shopping trip and a watch. In 2016 for the Alamo Bowl, OSU players earned Apple Watches, a Best Buy gift card, and a mini helmet.
2018’s bowl gifts fall right in line with most of those from a price point.
According to the Sports Business Daily, gifts this year will include a shopping trip to Bass Pro Shops in Memphis — (Memphis has a Bass Pro store that is a temple!) — as well as a Bose Soundlink micro bluetooth speaker, Bulova watch, Nike shoes, sandals, a football and a backpack and sunglasses.
Pretty great, yeah?
As you might imagine, the higher the bowl the better the gifts, generally speaking. The Cotton Bowl is always well-known for its player rewards, and they were apparently so good this year they didn’t disclose the gifts divvied out to players.
The other playoff bowl game, the Orange Bowl, did: OU and Alabama players will receive a gift suite, a Tourneau watch, a personalized bobblehead, and a sling bag.
The players should be compensated for their contributions to running a billionaire dollar industry, sure, but I suppose monthly stipends and annual bowl gifts aren’t the worst consolation prizes.
