Breaking Down Rudolph Film: Where He Excels in Reads and Decision-Making
Adam Lunt recently broke down what he thinks Mason Rudolph has done poorly in a few spots over the past few years in an Oklahoma State uniform. This breakdown is intended to be a critique of Rudolph from a NFL perspective and nothing more or less.
We are all obviously aware of what Rudolph has brought to the table in Stillwater and don’t shortchange his accomplishments there. He’s also not beyond reproach when it comes to flaws, especially when breaking down film that’s supposed to show how successful he’ll be at the next level.
That being said, today Lunt brings the good stuff from Rudolph. Where he has excelled in reads and decision-making. How he can roll through progressions and look off defenders to pick up first downs. Lunt highlights four different plays, and they’re all impressive.
Here are some highlights.
• Rudolph going from left to middle to the right side of the field (2:00).
• How quickly Rudolph can move from read to read (3:30).
• A three-progression read (4:15). It all happens so fast.
• How to look off a defender in the secondary (5:35).
• Half field reads (7:00).
• Daring a DB to commit one way or another and using James Washington as a sort of decoy for throwing to the Cowboy Back (8:00).
