The Cowboys have snagged a third Oklahoma preps prospect in their 2024 recruiting class.

Will Smith, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound edge rusher from Choctaw, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Thursday. He joins Southeast High School’s Rodney Fields and Stillwater’s Josh Ford as 2024 Okies committed to the Pokes.

Smith chose Oklahoma State over offers from Iowa State, Texas State and Akron.

He recorded 34 tackles, eight tackles for loss, seven sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups as a junior this past season. He also caught 21 passes for 445 yards and four scores. Smith’s Yellow Jackets went 11-2 this past season, falling to Stillwater in the 6A-II state title game.

Smith is also a standout on the Choctaw basketball team, and he played on the Buddy Buckets AAU squad the past two summers.

Smith is unranked on most recruiting services, but it’s still early in the 2024 cycle. On3 lists Smith as a three-star prospect and as the No. 4 player in the state.

OSU was just his second Division-I offer and his first from the Power Five level, offering in June. Iowa State then came in October and Texas State offered last month.

He is the fourth commitment in OSU’s 2024 class, joining Ford, Fields and Texas defensive back Willie Nelson (who committed last week).
