Chris Carson Says He Cried After Getting Drafted by Seahawks

For the first time since 2012, Oklahoma State had two players taken in the NFL Draft. Vincent Taylor in the 6th round and Chris Carson in the 7th. We already heard from Taylor who called it a “dream come true.”

But what did Carson have to say about being the 249th pick in the Draft?

“I was getting kind of nervous,” Carson told Seahawks.com. “I wanted to get my name called. I had talked to a lot of teams about being signed as a free agent. Then Seattle called me, and I just got excited to see that number pop up. I talked to the coaches there, and I started crying. I started to tear up a little bit. I’m just blessed to be in this situation.

“I talked to them a lot. I talked to coach Pete Carroll before the draft. I talked to the running backs coach and the scout coach. I was talking to them throughout the whole week. The were telling me things I need to work on and things they like about me. I’m a physical runner. I like to break tackles and get hard yards. I like to make people miss, and I’m not afraid of contact.”

That’s awesome.

“(I’d like to make) people compare themselves to me instead of me comparing myself to others,” Carson added when asked about who he looks up to.

“I was hanging on Chris Carson,” said Carroll. He’s a guy that I found looking through the stuff late in the draft, kind of like we’ve done over the years.

“I really love this guy because he is so physical and tough the way he ran.  You haven’t heard a whole lot about him, he hasn’t run the ball a lot.  But when he did, he, to me, made a great statement of his style and a style that we really covet.”

“His plate wasn’t totally full,” added GM John Schneirder.

“He had 80-some carries, but when he came back at the end of the season, you could see the urgency, and that’s what Pete is talking about.”

Yes, I think we all saw it.
