Chuba Hubbard Intending on Playing Texas Bowl Against Texas A&M
As for that redshirt junior year …
Oklahoma State’s superstar tailback had some good news for fans of the Pokes on Tuesday when he said that he is in fact intending on playing in OSU’s bowl game against Texas A&M, although he’s undecided on returning to school in 2020.
Chuba Hubbard said he intends on playing in the Texas Bowl. As far as coming back next season, he said he is taking that decision day by day.

I’ve thought for weeks that he would (and should) skip the Texas Bowl as he prepares to try and raise his stock between now and next year’s NFL Draft, but it sounds as if he’s intent on playing at least one more time for the orange and black.
Hubbard, who was a Doak Walker Award finalist and a consensus All-American, is just 64 yards shy of the 32nd 2,000-yard rushing season in college football history. Here’s a look at who he’s about to pass if he has his normal Chuba-like game against Texas A&M.
If he takes his first carry of the game 75 yards to the house, he jumps 10 spots to No. 30 and secures the second 2,000-yard season in school history. However, even without star defensive tackle, A&M should provide a formidable defense for No. 30.
They only allowed three teams to rush for 5 or more yards against them this season. Here’s a look at their game log.
Of course, they also haven’t faced a Chuba Hubbard all season. He’s been 5 yards a pop or more in eight of 12 games, and hit 8+ against Tulsa, Oregon State, Kansas State and TCU.
Three things here, and I’m done.
1. I’m pleasantly surprised Chuba is playing, although there was the syntactic caveat of “planning on” which certainly gives you an out, should you wish to take it. I’m also pleasantly excited. OSU needs him and Sanders at full strength to have a real chance. Also, we have some 2K shirts we need to unload.
2. This is almost certainly the end for No. 30, but he has a real chance to boost his stock against A&M in a bowl game. It will be the second-biggest (?) or third-biggest (?) spotlight on him all year and his first with whispers of turning pro. That stuff matters, and how he plays against A&M could certainly affect his status in the NFL Draft.
3. That 2,000 number is special. I wonder how much that played into the whole deal. It’s only been done 31 times, and to add your name to a list that includes LT, Barry, Ricky Williams, Tony Dorsett and Marcus Allen is pretty tremendous. Hopefully for him it happens by the end of the first quarter 10 days from today.
