Cowboys Best Arizona State to Open Final Regular Season Series
Don’t look now, but the Pokes have won seven of their past eight.
The Cowboys continued their late-season surge with a 6-2 win over Arizona State on Thursday night.
Oklahoma State (25-22, 13-12 Big 12) has now won seven of its last eight games, with the lone loss coming in the 10th inning of the series finale against Baylor.
Harrison Bodendorf struck out 8-of-26 batters faced across seven innings while holding the Sun Devils to five hits, one earned run and one walk. Bodendorf is 10-1 this season, and Thursday night’s victory makes him the firs Cowboy pitcher to go for double-digit wins since Jensen Elliott won 10 in 2019.
Brayden Smith delivered what would go down as the game-sealing double in the second inning, driving in Brock Thompson, Alex Conover and Avery Ortiz.

Nolan Schubart and Colin Brueggemann hit home runs. They lead the team with 15 and 13 this season, respectively.

Although it’s unlikely Oklahoma State can move up in the Big 12 standings, Thursday’s win does give the Cowboys some breathing room from Houston, Texas Tech and Baylor, which are all 12-15 or 12-16 in conference play. OSU also needs to keep winning because the Cowboys are firmly on the bubble when it comes to the NCAA tournament.
