David Taylor took 17 Cowboys up to Illinois this weekend for the Cougar Clash.

Three of those Oklahoma State wrestlers took home titles: Ronnie Ramirez (133), Alex Facundo (174) and Zack Ryder (184).

Ramirez’s conquering of the 133-pound bracket is probably the story of the tournament for the Cowboys. The 11-man bracket featured four OSU wrestlers, with Ramirez joining Richard Figueroa, Rin Sakamoto and Sam Smith.

Those four somehow avoided each other all day, but Ramirez finishing first in a bracket that featured Figueroa feels notable.

Figueroa has struggled to start his Cowboy career, with the 2024 125-pound national champ entering the weekend at 1-4. A true freshman, Ramirez made his college debut filling in for Figueroa for three matches at the National Duals Invitational. He went 2-1 at the event with his loss being to national finalist Drake Ayala in sudden-victory.

Figueroa had a bye to start his Sunday before he dropped his second-round match against UNI’s Garret Rinken, who was coming off beating Rin Sakamoto. Figueroa injury defaulted out after that.

Ramriez was on the other side of the bracket. He had pins in his opening two bouts before beating 2025 NCAA qualifier Julian Farber (UNI) 5-1 in sudden-victory the semis. Ramirez then got Rinken in the final and avenged his two teammates with an 8-2 win.

Facundo and Ryder each dominated, needing only three wins to earn their titles.

Facundo started with back-to-back tech-fall wins before winning the title bout via medical forfeit.

Ryder started his day with a fall before a 16-0 tech. He won his final 7-2.
