Santa Forgot
With the couple spots left in the 2018 recruiting class, Glenn Spencer has a couple ideas of what he’d like.
“Okay, we have two and I hope it will be for a defensive tackle and maybe a linebacker,” Spencer said. It is no secret that Spencer was in Louisiana the last week of recruiting before the quiet and dead periods started. He was in Metairie, La. at Archbishop Rummel recruiting former Georgia commit and safety/linebacker prospect Aaron Brule.
…Brule seems to like what he hears about Oklahoma State, enough that he has set up an official visit for Jan. 12 or 19. Brule is 6-2, 205 and a very physical player. [GoPokes $]
Robert Allen goes on to list a slew of defensive tackle prospects but all are hypotheticals at this point. But from what I’ve seen, give me this Bulldog-ex.

Rookie of the Year
In hindsight, Mike Gundy taking a flier on a young coach named Mike Yurcich was even less orthodox than it appeared.
A popular model in today’s game is to focus on the hiring of experienced coordinators and complementing them with less experienced but energetic and eager staffers in player evaluation and recruiting. [The Athletic $]
After seven years as a coordinator at a lesser level, Gundy decidedly zagged in going for an off the map and relatively inexperienced hire. It’s hard to imagine what offenses over the past five years would have looked like without his influence.
