OSU Bullets

Round-up from the ball diamonds yesterday – Cowgirls beat Texas State and Kansas City (Kangaroos, not Chiefs) in softball yesterday, while the Pokes dropped their first game, 12-8, against Grand Canyon (OKState.com)

• A CBS Sports analyst thinks Drew Mestemaker is the best quarterback transfer in college football (CBS Sports)

• Something about Berry Tramel’s description of attendance at Cowboy Basketball games surprised me when you consider the numbers against the most recent version of the stadium (capacity: 6,381).

Cordoning off half the upper deck gives us a chance at some decent math. I figure there were 10,000 seats available. Saturday, OSU announced attendance at 7,098. I’m guessing the crowd was about 5,500. But either way, the math sent my mind reeling.

• Listen to an anonymous college football general manager rave about the linebackers OSU is bringing in this fall:

“I really liked the Tate Romney kid that went to Oklahoma State,” said an ACC assistant general manager.  “Between him and (UNT’s Ethan) Wesloski, who is even better, they had a great LB haul.” [247 Sports]

•  Pokes got a great track record pre-2024:

• The most popular roadside attractions in the US

• Finished this Lincoln Lawyer series novel yesterday – it was a blast. Netflix’s current season of the show is supposedly based on it.

• The bright sadness of Ben Sasse (faith-based)
