Daily Bullets (Feb. 20): Mestemaker the Best Transfer Fit, Current Crowds in Old vs. New GIA

OSU Bullets

• Round-up from the ball diamonds yesterday – Cowgirls beat Texas State and Kansas City (Kangaroos, not Chiefs) in softball yesterday, while the Pokes dropped their first game, 12-8, against Grand Canyon (OKState.com)

• A CBS Sports analyst thinks Drew Mestemaker is the best quarterback transfer in college football (CBS Sports)

• Something about Berry Tramel’s description of attendance at Cowboy Basketball games surprised me when you consider the numbers against the most recent version of the stadium (capacity: 6,381).

Cordoning off half the upper deck gives us a chance at some decent math. I figure there were 10,000 seats available. Saturday, OSU announced attendance at 7,098. I’m guessing the crowd was about 5,500. But either way, the math sent my mind reeling.

 

Seven thousand wasn’t even possible before the 2000 expansion; 5,500 would have almost filled Gallagher-Iba in those days. [TulsaWorld]

• Listen to an anonymous college football general manager rave about the linebackers OSU is bringing in this fall:
