OSU Bullets

• It’s Super Bowl Sunday and for the second-straight year Oklahoma State fans will face a complicated, at best, viewing experience when Tyreek Hill makes some of best defenders in football look foolish.

Berry Tramel wrote poignantly on the topic of Hill, OSU’s fan base and the complex and unfortunately common question. I still don’t know what the right answer is on all of it, or if there is one.

There are no right or wrong answers. Disgust at Hill’s behavior — he was investigated for child abuse in 2019 when his son had an injury, but no charges were filed, despite some disturbing phone conversations that came to light — is natural. Forgiveness has to be part of the equation, too, or we’re all doomed.

Are Kansas City fans conflicted? Probably. They’ve got a thousand connections to the Chiefs. Most are positive. Hill’s a negative. Do you scrap allegiance to a team or a school over one bad egg? How do you find another team, if that’s your criteria? [NewsOK]

• Oklahoma State outlasted (and out-uglied) No. 6 Texas through 50 total minutes of basketball to add another feather to its NCAA cap.

• This video of Mike Boynton celebrating with his team would make you want to run through the wall, and all the way to Lawrence.

• Be sure to check out Marshall’s Five Thoughts on the Double-OT win.

• Regardless of how ugly the game was, or how taxing a game like that must be on a head coach, OSU is a hell of a lot of fun, as Guerin Emig pointed out.

But to picture a wrung-out coach with time to decompress is to forget the image of Boynton bumping fists with counterpart Shaka Smart right after the final horn, then immediately thrusting his arms toward OSU’s 3,350 fans in celebration. Don’t lose sight of that picture either. [Tulsa World]

• The Cowgirls decimated a shorthanded OU squad 91-64. Natasha Mack turned in her 12th (!!!) double-double of the season and is now the Cowgirls’ all-time blocked shots leader.

• This question fuels an ongoing discussion in our home — especially as our daughter takes part in virtual learning — and one I’m still not sure I know the answer to. How much screen time is too much for children? [Pew Research Center]
