Captain Mitch

Apparently the OSU king of plus/minus (prior to last night’s foul trouble) is the senior forward.

38 Scoring margin with Mitchell Solomon on the floor in past eight games

-68 Scoring deficit with Solomon on the bench over that same period

3-5 OSU’s record in those eight games. [TulsaWorld]

Keeping Yankuba Sima and Mitch Solomon out of foul trouble is huge for the Pokes – love playing them together and keeping Mitch away from the rim (where the fouls happen).

Boone on Baseball

T. Boone Pickens did an insightful interview with The OklahomanI’ll rob a tidbit here on giving and baseball when asked about if he’ll be funding another stadium.

No, and I don’t think they need me. When the story on the stadium is written, you will find out what a great fundraiser Mike Holder actually is. [NewsOK]

How an athletic director raises money for a non-revenue producing sport is amazing to me – making a large investment in something that doesn’t turn a profit except for in the enjoyment of fans.

And while Holder’s legacy has been both fantastic (see Cowboy Football and Golf) and dismal (see post-Eddie Cowboy Basketball), the baseball stadium will fall into the former category.

OSU and NCAA Notes

OSU is listed as one of college football’s Philadelphia Eagles – a good thing….Tim Cowlishaw looks at if TV is to blame for college football attendance issues….Tramel gets after Sooner Wrestling for not being competitive in Bedlam….Cowgirls couldn’t overtake top ten Texas

Going to be some must-watch basketball in Lubbock next Saturday.

Cowboys got the W in South Texas on Friday to start the season.

Cowgirl Softball kicked off the weekend well.

Looking forward to watching this guy with another year under his belt.
