Reloading – Not Rebuilding
Part of what makes Mike Gundy worth joining the five million dollar-salary club is his ability not necessarily to win eleven games – but to avoid multiple years of rebuilding after losing significant talent.
Under Gundy, though, OSU has developed a strong track record of reconstruction. Gone are the days when the loss of a significant talent meant a huge drop off. That is partially evident by the fact that the Cowboys haven’t won less than seven games since the second year of Gundy’s tenure. But go inside the numbers, and you’ll find even stronger evidence. [NewsOK]
In a fantastic piece by Jenni Carlson (go read it), she outlines rebuilds in 2010, 2012 and 2014 as evidence that Mike Gundy and his staff are top shelf at getting the ship going in the right direction.
New Breed
Robert Allen took a stab at the first depth chart for next fall and he has an interesting projection for the next go-to wideout in Stillwater.
WR – Tyron Johnson, Jr., 6-1, 190, LSU/New Orleans (Warren Easton), La.
Tylan Wallace, So., 6-1, 190, Fort Worth (South Hills), Texas
WR – Patrick McKaufman, So., 6-6, 210, NEO A&M JC/Oklahoma City (Douglas), Okla.
L.C. Greenwood, RFr., 6-3, 215, Garland (Lakeview Centennial), Texas
This is a good group that won’t feature anyone as good as Washington to begin with (duh – he won the Biletnikoff) but excellent players in all spots and keep an eye on McKaufman as he could be a star.
Wouldn’t it be the most Oklahoma State-thing if this guy is the next great wide receiver? Personally, I’m on the Dillon Stoner-Sills train but this is who Bobby A. is projecting.

Congrats and props to OU on getting there but I ride with Boone on this one.
Also, it’s one thing to cheer for a rival to win in a lower-tier bowl but another to get behind your rival playing for the natty.
Don’t let OU fans fool you with the “root for your own conference” mumbo jumbo: If #okstate was in the playoff, they’d be rooting against the Pokes.
So Go Dawgs. ?

Coaches’ Film Room 4-ever.
Dana Holgorsen's awesome take on Oklahoma drive: "That right there looked like SEC football, Bret."
— Max Olson (@max_olson) January 1, 2018
My favorite part of this ESPN Coaches Film Room has been @Holgorsendana on one side of the table saying “Keep pushing the pace! Why are they wasting time subbing guys?” and @BretBielema on the other saying “What we need here is a nice 8 1/2 minute drive.“
