Program Tradition Builders
So much is enjoyed about Cowboy Football’s recent success and plenty of conversation around what it takes to get “over the top”. Looking ten miles west of town gives plenty of context to help understand that circumstance.
That’s how tradition is built. That’s how passion spreads. That’s how Karsten Creek gets built.
“That’s what the program’s all about,” said Zack Robinson, who played on OSU’s 2006 title team. “We come here to win and make our own history, and that’s exactly what these guys did today. They seized a moment and they made history. All the guys that have been through here, we always felt like all of this was here for us because of everybody else that had worked their way through and achieved so many things.”
Sure, lots of schools care about golf, but few schools care about golf like OSU cares about golf, and that was true long before Holder became athletic director. [NewsOK]
There’s something magnetic about a tradition in full blossom. Something that draws worthy candidates to continue it from southern California to Sweden. From Labron (Harris) to Bratton, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that keeps playing out over and again in one of golf’s least likely havens: north central Oklahoma.
A #TBT look at the first @OSUCowboyGolf National Champs from 1963. They don't really look like trendsetters, but history says they were #okstate #GoPokes #GolfSchool #NCAAGolf pic.twitter.com/ZirpDPe1hB

Texas (Will Have to) Fight
In a schedule breakdown for OSU’s 2018 football season, a late October bout against Texas jumped out.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27TH VS TEXAS
You can ask Mike Gundy himself, this was the toughest defense they faced last season and the result was scoring only 13 points in a game that went into overtime. However, they managed to win that game which is crazy. Expect this matchup to be a slugfest where points come at a premium. Field position will be extra in this game. [HCS]
This is the hardest one to predict for the fall – given that the road team wins and that Texas loses the guts of their defense that cracked the DaVinci Code of OSU’s passing game. It seems like a cop-out but whoever is getting better quarterback play at that point deserves odds of a touchdown advantage.
OSU and NCAA Notes
Fun piece from Wednesday – Stillwater Country Club hosted a thrilling title match in the 70’s….See who’s setup to return their NCAAB studs next year in this early declaration winners and losers piece….Adam Kramer says Tua’s little brother can ball….Cowgirl softball star Vanessa Shippy named All-American….Interesting move: AAC moving from Rhode Island to Dallas
So we’re all Steelers fans now… right?
For as much love as OSU’s receivers get, it appears defensive backs benefit playing across from them in practice.

Not a complainer but not that impressed with the Oklahoman here. We get it – there’s more OU fans in Oklahoma but one’s a much more significant achievement.
Hmm. OU beginning play in the NCAA Softball Championships gets above the fold priority over a golf national championship on both the front page of @TheOklahoman and the Sports page pic.twitter.com/jXHH5nxmhh
