Second Best of the Best
Golfweek took a look at the best college golf teams since the turn of the century and there’s an argument for the 2017-2018 Cowboy Golf team being in the top three.
This year’s Oklahoma State squad would rank No. 2 with a power-rating difference of 0.78 points. The Cowboys also played the No. 2-ranked schedule and compiled a record of 179-6-1. The top five players for the Cowboys all ranked in the top 57 in college golf. [Golfweek]
After noting some reasonable qualifiers (not winning the league title, playing title on their home course), seeing that massive win-loss number is incredibly impressive and hard to argue with.
Life in Titletown
Where do the Pokes stand after wrapping up title No. 52 last week?
Penn State has won seven of the last eight NCAA wrestling titles. The Nittany Lions didn’t win in 2015, but otherwise has won every year starting with 2011.
That’s an affront to OSU, of course, and not only because the Cowboys expect to be in the thick of NCAA wrestling contention. Penn State had drawn precariously close to OSU on the list of all-time NCAA team titles.
But last week in Stillwater, the Cowboys gave themselves a little breathing room with their 11th NCAA men’s golf championship. That gave OSU 52 NCAA team titles, two more than Penn State. [NewsOK]
While the top three in the title-winning category are triple digit winning-Pac 12 schools (Stanford, UCLA, and USC), the Pokes are holding steady in fourth.

Can you imagine what ten more pounds on Carson would look like? (h/t to Cox for flagging this)
Seahawks RB Chris Carson gained about 10 pounds and is up to 227. Sadly he was forced to cut back on his favorite food … hot wings to do so.
