Three Thoughts
โข Marshall wrote about Mike Gundy’s new contract and the tightrope OSU brass have to navigate when it comes to feeding the football monster that feeds all other sports. [PFB]
โข Berry Tramel on how the transfer portal has made QB depth at both Bedlam schools precarious. [The Oklahoman]
โข The Cowgirls bats have been ? over the last two weeks. OSU dominated Texas Tech in Games 1 and 2 and can complete the Big 12-opening sweep on Sunday. [PFB]
Two Quotes (w/ a Bonus)
โข Kenny Gajewski on the pecking order in sports in Stillwater (and everywhere) last month โ before Mike Gundy’s new deal.
โIโm very aware that football needs improvement,โ Gajewski said in February. โWe got to have it. Iโm very aware that they have to be good for us to be good. Itโs huge. We need them. We need them to do what they just did over and over again. Itโs a huge deal.โ
[PFB]
โข Jaylen Warren went a little under the radar at OSU’s Pro Day thanks to big outings from Devin Harper and Malcolm Rodriguez, but I went back and re-read some of the best quotes from Pro Day and this one from Warren was great. Who knows how things will pan out for him at the next level, but he will be one of my favorites for a long time.
“I wish I could do it more, my family likes to remind me. I do as time went on, especially after the season. I never saw myself at this big of a school, especially doing what I did. I never saw myself doing all that.”
[GoPokes]
โข Speaking of Rodriguez, he says he wasn’t counting when he bounced that bar off his chest 36 times.
One Question
โข Who is your favorite one-year player at OSU, any sport?
Non-OSU Bullets
โข A couple of compelling options.
โข Remembering Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died suddenly this week. [Variety]
