Daily Bullets (Nov 13) – Thoughts on the Two-Point Conversion, Tylan’s Season in Context

Rock in the Shoe

Something I’m having a hard time discerning is if the two-point-conversion playcall was good or bad.

(Tylan) Wallace was open. Great play call by offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. Great route by Wallace after going in motion. Not a difficult throw. Nothing like the 24-yard touchdown Corndog had just thrown to Wallace in traffic.

“Just gotta make the throw,” Cornelius said. “It would have been huge. Beating those guys on their home field, that’s what it’s all about. You wait four years for that moment.”

Yurcich got emotional just talking about Corndog.

“What he needs to know is that he’s the one that put us in that situation to be in that play in the first place,” Yurcich said. “To play a team like this caliber and have a chance to win at the end, is a credit to him in the first place. [NewsOK]

Was it good because it was wide open? That’s a valid argument. Or is it bad because Cornelius has struggled mightily to roll right? My primary beef is the idea that there were only two real options: throw to Wallace or keep it. Give me Jelani peeling over at the back of the endzone and I’m nearly muted. In reality, planted feet could have resulted in a completed pass.

Tylan for the Biletnikoff

OSU fans have a unique perspective on the wide receiver of the year – we’re uniquely jaded by Blackmon and Washington’s seasons. But what’s the reality of Tylan Wallace compared to his peers this year?

Tylan Wallace caught 10 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 48-47 Bedlam loss. In three games since Oklahoma State’s off week, Wallace has 28 receptions, 564 yards and five touchdowns.

He has more yards through the air in three games than 22 FBS teams did in the month of October.

The sophomore is a serious contender for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s outstanding receiver, though Texas Tech’s Antoine Wesley still has more catches and yards. [TulsaWorld]

It may come down to who’s system is perceived as more credible – OSU’s or Tech’s. We’ll wait and see how the last couple of games go but it’s hard to argue with the season he’s had to this point.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Another entertaining week in college football….Tyreek Hill took over a CBS camera on Sunday….KU and Todd Graham may not be a bad fit, he won games at TU….Quick look at OSU’s possible bowl destinations….Gundy’s teams are the definition of “Cardiac Cowboys”….The last chapter of Snyder at K-State keeps getting weirder and weirder

Home opener coming up tomorrow! Brings something off the list to benefit the military for free popcorn.

Night game in Fort Worth coming next week.

I love what Mike Gundy has done at OSU but this is relevant context for yesterday’s comments.

Three things: 1) I’m overjoyed with how well OSU played Saturday and 2) hope the absolute best in life for our kicker but 3) I’m having the hardest time getting over the missed extra point.
