Going for the Gold
At risk of jiggling the knife in our collective bleeding hearts – accused of hyper-conservative behavior, Gundy and Yurcich went for it all Saturday night.
Facing fourth-and-8 at the 38, the Cowboys called timeout to discuss their options. The decision:
“Go to something that they really hadn’t seen,” Gundy said. “We hadn’t gone to that set yet. And it worked.” [NewsOK]
Referring to third Tyron touchdown catch that wasn’t to be, it was an unusual but welcome Gundy move.

While it’s mostly clear what Oklahoma State has to do to get to Dallas, the Big 12 could be chaos on who the second team to Arlington will be.
The biggest drama in the Big 12 may be who emerges as the potential title-game foil to the victor of next week’s game. There will likely be three two-loss Big 12 teams after next weekend.
Considering the Big 12’s tortured postseason history, it would be fitting if the first year that it returns to playing a conference title game that it works against it. [Yahoo Sports]
Pokes win out and the TCU/OU loser needs to lose again. Tiebreaker procedures are here if you’re interested.
