Daily Bullets (Oct. 6): Houston Kick Released, Perfect Timing of Firing and Hiring

• Pokes get prime TV spot and station for the game against Houston (PFB)

• Bedlam on ice at Boone Pickens Stadium in January (X)

• Super interesting thought – the timing of Mike Gundy’s firing led perfectly to Eric Morris’ hiring.

If Gundy had been fired in December 2024 instead of September 2025, Eric Morris today is not the OSU head football coach.

At North Texas, Morris’ 2023 Mean Green team was 5-7. His 2024 Mean Green was 6-7.

Morris was the same coach in 2023 and 2024 — with the same football acumen — that he is today in Stillwater, but through the 2024 season he didn’t yet have that signature season that says, “I’m one of those guys. I can win at a power-conference school.” [TulsaWorld]

• Three things UCF’s coach had to say about planning the Pokes (PFB)

• Drew Mestemaker is learning when to hold back and when to let it fly (TulsaWorld)

• RBU
