Recruiting news is starting to pick up entering the summer months as Eric Morris and Co. look to put together their first full class at Oklahoma State.

The past week has seen an in-state receiver commit to OSU, an in-state linebacker announce an OSU offer and an in-state defensive back set a commitment date. Well, now OSU is in the top group for a touted prospect from the Lone Star State, and the Cowboys’ staff is in pursuit of another in-state DB.

OSU in Top 5 for Four-Star Athlete Hunter Haug

Hunter Haug is the No. 217 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2027 class, and he released a Top 5 on Thursday: Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech and Arkansas.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Haug is out of Smithson Valley High in Spring Branch, Texas (northeast of San Antonio). As a junior, he accumulated 1,156 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns while making 57 tackles, seven pass breakups and a pick as a defensive back.

Smithson Valley went 15-1 on the year, winning a Texas 5A-1 state title.

OSU has been active with Haug since Eric Morris got to town.

Haug announced his OSU offer back on Jan. 30, accompanying that offer announcement with a picture of him and Morris at his school. Haug was up at OSU’s Junior Day in March, and at the beginning of this month, OSU DC Skyler Cassity and DBs coach Jordan Malone went down to visit Haug in his home. According to 247Sports, Haug will be in Stillwater for an official visit on June 9.

Haug has speed. Last month at his area track meet, Haug ran a 10.65 100 meters. Back in February, he also recorded a 21-foot, 3-inch long jump.

In-State DB Noah Gillespie Receives Home Visit

Broken Arrow defensive back Noah Gillespie shared a photo to social media on Wednesday with Cassity, Malone and corners coach Julian Wilson all visiting Gillespie at his home.

Listed at 5-11, 180, Gillespie is the No. 737 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking, which tabs him as the No. 72 corner in the class and a Top 15 player from the state of Oklahoma.

MaxPreps only had stats for seven of Gillespie’s games from 2025, but in that stretch, he made 31 tackles, a tackle for loss and two interceptions.

Gillespie ran a 10.89 100 meters in April, according to Athletic.net.

OSU offered Gillespie in February, and he attended a Junior Day in March. He has an official visit scheduled in Stillwater for the end of the month.

Gillespie also has offers to Kansas State, UCLA, Arizona, TCU Auburn, Iowa State and others.
