OSU is in the final group of contenders to secure a commitment from four-star Bronx native Elijah Moore, a 2024 shooting guard who on Saturday is expected to make his college decision. Moore is a top-100 talent considering OSU along with other finalists of Arkansas, Alabama, Syracuse and Miami.

Syracuse is the current crystal ball favorite to keep Moore within the state walls after picking up recent traction for him among industry insiders. Ditto on Rivals, where the Orange are also considered heavy favorites. But OSU did land him on campus for an official visit, something no other school outside Syracuse can claim.

OSU offered Moore in late November of last year as interest from near and far exploded. The Cowboys were one of a lengthy list of major programs to show interest in that span, though, with OU, Syracuse, Xavier, Arkansas and Illinois all also offering during November.

Mike Boynton is a Brooklyn native who has dipped into his New York roots to recruit the state in recent years, but it doesn’t seem like a lock that that particular connection in this recruitment will be fruitful. OSU, though, has already cast a wide net in the 2024 cycle to a lengthy list of guards including rising in-state star Dayton Forsythe from Dale High School who tore up the annual Tournament of Champions and exploded onto the national scene. Then there is five-star prospect David Castillo from Bartlesville, the No. 20 player in the entire class.

Moore will decide his next destination at 11 a.m. Saturday on 247Sports’ YouTube channel.
