Freshman Tracker: J.D. King’s Role Increasing Entering Stretch Run

Published

on

Coming into Saturday against Baylor, how OSU handled Justice Hill’s workload was one of the areas I was most interested in. Before the bye week, he had logged 55 carries in the previous two games — 30 at Texas Tech, and 25 against TCU, while backup J.D. King managed just three in that same span.

The coaching staff lightened the load for Hill in the rout as expected Saturday as he logged just 14 carries, which allowed King to shine in a secondary role. He saw an increase in opportunity with nine carries, his second-most touches in a game this season, and gained 47 yards including several goal-line touches that resulted in him notching his second TD of the season.

Here’s a look at how the other freshmen fared this week and an update on the season statistics for the youngsters.
