Oklahoma State will have to play West Virginia without arguably two of its best defensive players on Saturday.

Linebacker Nick Martin will miss the Cowboys’ game against WVU at 3 p.m. Saturday, according to Dave Hunziker on the pregame radio show. OSU’s defense has already been without linebacker Collin Oliver.

Two other regular names on this season’s injured list will also be sidelined again in linebacker Justin Wright and offensive tackle Jake Springfield. That injury to Wright, who hasn’t been able to play yet this season, is even more detrimental now with that position group taking two more big blows with Martin and Oliver now missing time. As for Springfield, Arizona State transfer Isaia Glass has been filling in for him.

Martin earned First Team All-Big 12 honors last season after leading the conference with 140 tackles. He entered Week 6 of the season in the top 10 in the country in total tackles and seventh in solo stops. Safety Trey Rucker, who leads all Power Four players with 63 tackles, is the only Cowboy with more tackles than Martin so far this season.

Redshirt senior Jeff Roberson is expected to start in Martin’s place. The Choctaw native has started five games this season already.
