Jeffrey Carroll Says Bedlam Win Ranks No. 1 in Career Games in GIA

Following Oklahoma State’s 83-81 overtime win over Oklahoma on Saturday, senior forward Jeffrey Carroll answered a question regarding where this game ranks in his all-time list.

“This may have to be the best one I think in my opinion,” Carroll said. “It is the best feeling in the world: playing in Gallagher-Iba … We fought for 45 minutes, and it was just so much emotion and so much passion and pride from us tonight.”

Carroll has been a part of many special games in GIA, including back-to-back wins over Kansas as an underclassman, a victory over No. 10 Texas in 2014 and last year’s Bedlam win. Carroll has now been a part of two OSU teams who have beaten Oklahoma, but he told reporters this was the most memorable one.

Carroll recorded his third double-double of the season in the Cowboys’ victory, finishing with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Carroll’s biggest points came when he knocked down a 3 in overtime to give the Cowboys a one-possession lead and when he sank either team’s final points of the game with two go-ahead free throws.

Point guard Kendall Smith also said the rivalry has already made a mark on him. “The rivalry was kind of instilled in me after the first game,” Smith said. “After the [last] game and seeing how that went, being able to come back and play in Gallagher gave me another level of passion.

“Our crowd was wonderful tonight. Big shoutout to our fans and everyone who came out to support us.”
