PORTAL TRACKER

It had been a while since Oklahoma State lost someone to the transfer portal, but the most recent addition is a big loss for the Pokes.

John Paul Richardson entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, according to 247Sports’ Cody Nagel. Richardson just finished his sophomore season in Stillwater where he had 49 catches for 503 yards and four touchdowns. He finished second on the team in catches and second in receiving touchdowns.

Richardson had at least 45 receiving yards in seven games in 2022, including a career-high 90 yards against Iowa State in November.

Richardson was voted a team captain for OSU’s Guaranteed Rate Bowl — the only underclassman to get the honor.

A part of a deep receiving class for the Cowboys alongside Blaine Green, Bryson Green and Jaden Bray, Richardson played in 10 games and made three starts as a true freshman in OSU’s Fiesta Bowl-winning 2021 campaign. He made big catches in OSU’s Big 12 Championship loss to Baylor and the Cowboys’ Fiesta Bowl win against Notre Dame.

Richardson, the son of former Texas A&M quarterback Bucky Richardson, came to OSU as a three-star prospect out of Missouri City, Texas. He picked the Cowboys over offers from Arizona, Arkansas, TCU, Ole Miss and others.

Richardson becomes the third scholarship receiver to enter the portal from OSU — joining Braylin Presley and Langston Anderson. The Cowboys have added Washington State transfer wideout De’Zhaun Stribling from the portal.
