Landon Wolf Capitalizes on Newfound Opportunity in Win Over KU

Landon Wolf stepped up in a huge way for Oklahoma State.

In his first career start, Landon Wolf filled a huge need for Oklahoma State, and turned in a career game along the way.

The Cowboys headed to Lawrence, Kansas, sans their starting slot receiver Jalen McCleskey, who decided to make use of the new four-game redshirt rule and transfer. They were also without third-leading receiver Dillon Stoner, who is well-versed on the inside, due to injury.

A passing game that struggled to get off of the ground during a loss to Texas Tech last week, got a shot in the arm against Kansas. Maybe that was partially due to the Jayhawks secondary, but Wolf, along with Tylan Wallace and Tyron Johnson made the Jayhawks pay for several blown coverages. Taylor Cornelius turned his best stat line by far throwing for 312 yards and four touchdowns and completing 75 percent of his passes.

Six of those 15 completed passes went to the redshirt sophomore who made his first career start. Wolf led the Cowboys in catches and yards (116) and grabbed his own score in the first half.

The former walk-on, who was put on scholarship this offseason, appeared in all 13 games last year as a special teams contributor but didn’t record a catch. In the first four weeks of this season, Wolf totaled four grabs for 41 yards.

But with toughness like this.

And big plays like this.

Expect Wolf’s star to continue to soar in OSU’s offense.
