NFL Roundup: Don’t Ask Dez about Bedlam

Week 9 of the NFL slate saw six teams sit out for a bye, but there were still several Cowboys in action.

Dez Bryant

One day after his 29th birthday — more on that, Dez Bryant’s team got the win over the AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs. Unfortunately, after reeling in six of his team-leading 11 targets for 73 yards, Bryant suffered a reported ankle sprain and left the game in the fourth quarter.

Dez did not score a touchdown for the second week in a row. Against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, Dez caught his 71st career receiving TD tying Bob Hayes for the most in Dallas Cowboy history.

His status for next week is still in the air but the Pro Bowl receiver seemed optimistic when asked about his outlook, “Just soreness. Just a bruise,” Bryant said. “Hopefully by the end of the week I’ll be fine.”

But more sore than Dez’s tweaked ankle was the subject of Bedlam from the night before — on his birthday!

Lane Taylor

Taylor returned to the starting lineup for the Green Bay Packers after missing last week with an ankle injury. His quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not, and is expected to miss the season. Green Bay lost 30-17 at Lambeau Field to division rivals the Detroit Lions.

Vincent Taylor

One week after blocking the first field goal of his NFL career, Taylor did not log any stats in the Dolphin’s 27-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday night. Since the return of Jordan Phillips, Taylor has been pushed to fourth in snap count among d-tackles behind Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh, Phillips and fellow rookie Davon Godchaux.

Tyler Patmon

The former Cowboy DB was deactivated for the first time since joining the Jacksonville Jaguars this year. When Jalen Ramsey was ejected, Patmon would have been next on the depth chart but the Jaguars were forced to go with rookie Jalen Myrick would played 13 snaps in his stead and allowed zero completions when challenged twice according to The Florida Times-Union.

Dan Bailey

Bailey missed his second game with a groin injury, the second of his seven-year career. He’s expected to miss at least two more weeks based on the original timeline of four or more.

On Bye

Emmanuel Ogbah (Browns), Russell Okung (Chargers)
