NFL Roundup: Why You Should Want Dez to Be Traded and E-Man Undergoes Surgery
If you were like me, you spent a good portion of your Thanksgiving enjoying an early start to the NFL’s Week 12 slate. It was an eventful week and several former Pokes were in action. Let’s take a look.
Dez Bryant
Bryant continues to struggle as he and second-year QB Dak Prescott have yet to build the same type of connection the Pro Bowl wideout had with Tony Romo. Dez’ catch rate is a lowly 52.5 percent but if you watch the games, there are reasons for that beyond Bryant’s control. You’ll see a ton of under-thrown passes, several of which Dez is able to make plays on anyway.
Dez Bryant has 102 targets this season.
He has 53 catches.
PFF says that he's had just 60 catchable passes this season.
42 uncatchable passes!!!

And then there’s this.
Option A: Every single #Cowboys receiver got old/worse in one season.
Option B: Quarterback isn't playing as well this season. https://t.co/iNljDEcBof

2017 Y/R: 10.9
Terrance Williams:

2017: Y/R: 11.7
Cole Beasley:
2016 Y/R: 11.1

Jason Witten:
2016 Y/R: 9.8

Since grabbing his 71st career TD and tying Bob Hayes for most ever as a Dallas Cowboy, Bryant has gone scoreless in five-straight games. On Thanksgiving, as Dallas’ offense struggled to move the ball, Dez was held to just three catches on five targets for 37 yards.
Dez did have a chance to score on this well-defended pass that hit him in the mitts but couldn’t pull it in.
Dez needs to catch this, but it's not like he doesn't have the ability to do so. Times this one well. pic.twitter.com/1GS170uQXv

Dak Prescott brings a lot to the table for the Cowboys’ offense but accuracy has not been his strong suit this season. An elite receiver, on the way out of his prime, is currently having his talent squandered with a quarterback ranked 19th in the NFL in passer rating and 25th in interception percentage.
During the Cowboys’ current three-game skid Prescott holds a TD-to-interception ratio of 0-5. Even the return of Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith couldn’t keep Prescott from throwing two INTs to the Chargers.
If you’re a Dallas Cowboy fan you hope they figure it out. If you’re a Dez fan you might wish for him to get traded to a situation with a more competent passer who could help him realize his full potential.
Emmanuel Ogbah
The second-year edge rusher was having a good season when a broken foot took him out of the game against Jacksonville (and most likely for the season) in Week 11.
Ogbah was placed on injured reserve and underwent an apparently successful surgery last week.

Hopefully, he’s back to his disruptive self sooner than later.

Chris Carson
In more injury news, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll — founder and CEO of the Chris Carson Fan Club — gave an encouraging update on the rookie.
Pete Carroll says @chriscarson29 has had a great recovery, he's running, changing directions, doing more aggressive 'stuff'.
"Each stage of it, it depends on how he responds to it…this week will be really important."#Seahawks

Further strengthening Carroll’s love for Carson is the fact that we are currently on Day 57 of Carson being the Seahawks’ leading rusher among RBs while not taking a single snap. He has been out since suffering that gruesome lower leg injury in Week 4 against Indianapolis.
The Seahawks are just one game back of the Los Angeles Rams for the NFC West division lead. If they make the playoffs, it’s looking more and more likely that Carson may return this season.
Vincent Taylor
The rookie D-tackle logged just one take-down during the Dolphins’ 35-17 loss to the Patriots in Foxborough. He saw 14 snaps on defense and 11 on special teams.
Russell Okung
Okung and Co. got it done during the Chargers’ 28-6 win in Dallas on Thanksgiving. Okung has been a solid addition for first year head coach Anthony Lynn since leaving a contentious situation in Denver last season. And he’s excelled at his No. 1 job — keeping Philip Rivers’ jersey clean. LA’s offensive line boasts the lowest sack rate in the NFL and Rivers has only been sacked 12 times in 11 games.
Lane Taylor
Taylor and the Packers OL continued to struggle on this week’s trip to Pittsburgh with Brett Hundley being sacked four times by the Steeler defense. The Packers fell 31-28 and are 1-5 since Week 6 when they lost Aaron Rodgers due to a broken clavicle.
Dan Bailey
Bailey returned from a five-game absence due to a groin injury but did not attempt a field goal. He did perform his kickoff duties twice during the Cowboys 28-6 loss to the Chargers. Dallas has released replacement kicker Mike Nugent so Bailey’s health does not look to be an issue moving forward.
Tyler Patmon
The former Oklahoma State DB saw four snaps on special teams during the Jaguars’ 27-24 loss at Arizona on Sunday. He did not record any stats.
Lenzy Pipkens
The rookie corner saw eight special teams snaps in the Packers’ loss to Pittsburgh and did not record any snaps.
Kevin Peterson
Fresh off of his promotion for the practice squad last week, Peterson saw 18 snaps on special teams but did not record a stat.
Blake Jarwin
The rookie tight end hasn’t seen the field since his debut against Atlanta two weeks ago.
