Oklahoma State Could be Landing Spot for Former Nebraska Commit

The fallout from the recent firing of Nebraska coach Mike Riley could reverberate with an overwhelmingly positive wave in OSU’s favor.

A long-time Huskers pledge, Mario Goodrich, has opened up his recruitment in the wake of the news and is now a hot name on the market, particularly at this stage of the recruitment process with 12 days and counting until the early signing period.

According to ESPN, Oklahoma State — along with Georgia, Ole Miss and Arizona State — are contenders to be the rebound school for the four-star athlete (who OSU and many others like as a defensive back.) Goodrich is ranked as the 109th overall prospect in the 2018 class and the No. 4 at his position nationally, according to 247Sports.

He’s also a Lees Summit product from Lees Summit West, who visited Oklahoma State with hoops pledge Yor Anei during the football season alongside former OSU hoopster Victor Williams.

Here’s what ESPN said about the 6-2, 180-pound standout and where he projects him to ultimately land.

Prediction: Oklahoma State

Goodrich only recently decommitted from Nebraska, and several schools are still trying to get in the mix for him. It will take time to sort out what his options really are, but it looks as though he will look mostly at southern schools and Oklahoma State. The new Nebraska coaches might try to get him back on board, but according to a source, it would be difficult to do at this point, unless his options have dwindled.

OSU has a number of commitments at corner in the Class of 2018 in JayVeon Cardwell and Gabe Lemons, namely. And at this point, the position is still of high priority as signing day nears.

Goodrich is the latest name to emerge as a target on OSU’s radar this week, and he’s a name to certainly keep an eye on over the next days. Right now, the focus seems to be on Pima Community College prospect Haki Woods, but it might be a “first to commit gets the scholarship” situation with mere days left until prospects can put pen to paper.
