A second Poke hits the portal in as many days.

It’s that time of the year.

After news broke Monday of Oklahoma State’s top 2019 recruit entering the transfer portal, another freshman Cowboy was announced to do so Tuesday morning. Cornerback Xavier Player is the latest OSU player to enter the portal, according to 247Sports.

Player came to OSU as a three-star recruit out of Cibolo-Steele in Texas. He originally chose OSU over offers from Abilene Christian, Air Force, Army, Bowling Green and others.

Player played in the McNeese game on Sept. 7 but didn’t record any statistics.

It’s tough to tell if Player would’ve ever broken into the Cowboys’ starting lineup. The position group is losing A.J. Green, Kemah Siverand and Bryce Balous to graduation this year. Starter Rodarius Williams still has another year of eligibility. True freshman Thomas Harper impressed in fall camp in August, and there are other young names such as JayVeon Cardwell, Gabe Lemons and Demarco Jones fighting for snaps.

OSU also has three cornerback commits in its 2020 class in Korie Black, Jabbar Muhammad and Jordan Reagan.

Player is the 13th-ranked corner in the portal, according to 247.

Player is the sixth OSU player to enter the portal this year, joining Jahmyl Jeter, Grayson Boomer, Kyle Junior, Blake Barron and Kris McCune.
