The preseason accolades continue to stack up for Ollie Gordon, and Monday’s accolade is a highly touted one.

Gordon, Oklahoma State’s star running back, was named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year preseason watch list, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Monday. As the name entails, the award is given annually to college football’s player of the year. Gordon was a semifinalist for the award last season after rushing for 1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns, leading OSU to a 10-4 record and an appearance in the Big 12 title game.

Gordon’s big year saw him win the Doak Walker, given to the nation’s best running back, as well as the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the Year. He was a consensus All-American and finished seventh in Heisman voting — tops of any running back.

Barry Sanders is the only Cowboy to have won the award — doing so as part of his Heisman Trophy-winning 1988 season.

This watch list includes 50 players. There are nine players from the Big 12 on the list, being Gordon, Tahj Brooks (Texas Tech), Jalon Daniels (Kansas), Noah Fifita (Arizona), Garrett Green (West Virginia), Travis Hunter (Colorado), Tetairoa McMillan (Arizona), Cameron Rising (Utah) and Shedeur Sanders (Colorado).

Three finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year will be announced No. 26 and the winner will be announced on ESPN’s awards show on Dec. 12.
