OSU Basketball Recruiting: Five-Star Isaiah Todd Plans Visit to Stillwater

Despite Kentucky offer, OSU still in the mix for an elite 2020 big man.

The news broke last Wednesday that five-star, class of 2020 power forward Isaiah Todd had received an offer from Kentucky. The Kentucky coaching staff had visited the athletic forward a few weeks prior, but no offer was made, likely due to Coach Calipari not being able to make the trip. However, this time Cal was in attendance and Todd received his official offer from the Wildcats.

Shortly after the offer, seven expert predictions came in for UK on 247Sports Crystal Ball. In addition, one analyst prediction and one publisher prediction have Todd landing in Lexington on Rivals.com since the offer was extended. All signs were pointing to the Virginia native committing to the Wildcats, and it looked like there was no real hope for coach Mike Boynton and his staff to land the 6-10 forward.

However, GoPokes.com reported earlier this afternoon that Todd is planning to take an official visit to Stillwater this weekend to watch the Cowboys take on Kansas. He took an unofficial visit to OSU last June, so this will be his second time to visit the campus during his recruitment. This is huge for the Pokes because it means that Todd is still at least considering the Cowboys and he wants to continue building his already solid relationships with coach Dave Kontaxis and coach Boynton.

Todd is still considering reclassifying from the 2020 class to the 2019 class, and it’s looking like he is on track to qualify academically. If he does decide to move up, Oklahoma State has the scholarships available and he would be an immediate impact guy even with the talent already coming in with next year’s class.

Todd’s soft touch and solid footwork around the rim, shooting ability from the outside, ball handling skills, shot blocking prowess and overall athleticism make him one of the most talented players whether you’re looking at the 2019 or 2020 classes. I mean… the dude is an absolute freak in pretty much every aspect of the game.

I still think Kentucky is the frontrunner, but I wouldn’t count the Cowboys completely out. Todd is expected to take all of his five allowed official visits and it will probably still be later on this spring before he makes a decision.
