OSU Hoops Star Avery Anderson Transferring to TCU
TCU lands OSU’s second-leading scorer from last season.
OSU hoops star Avery Anderson will be keeping his talents within the confines of the Big 12. Anderson, the second-leading scorer for the Cowboys last season and the leader in assists per game, announced Saturday, just one week after visiting the school’s campus, that he will play next season for coach Jamie Dixon and his Horned Frogs in Fort Worth.
Anderson chose TCU over Clemson, Texas Tech, Creighton, Baylor, UCF and Mississippi State interest.
Anderson missed more than a month to end the season because of a wrist injury but was one of the Cowboys’ most stable and consistent performers in the backcourt. OSU won its next three games without him before slipping on a five-game losing streak that effectively crushed its NCAA Tournament hopes.
Anderson signed with OSU in 2019 as a four-star prospect from Texas who picked the Pokes over Florida, LSU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and others. He broke into a rotation role in 2019-20 playing spot minutes before seizing a starting role each of the last three seasons, making 75 starts in 79 appearances while averaging nearly 12 points and 2.5 assists per game.
